VCT 3 - Opinion
- Souvik - Knocking Champion Sandy out of the tournament, with 600+ rating difference on Matchday 5, which ultimately allowed him to qualify for the next round.
- Arka - Absolutely outwitting and winning against Sudipta with 400+ rating difference on Matchday 1, which complicated the Yellow League standings.
- Shibu - Stunning win against Sandy with 400+ rating difference on Matchday 1 which actually motivated many lower rated players and started the trend of Giant Slayers in the tournament.
- Aneek's 'going for the kill' against Arka on matchday 2 in Yellow League
- Neha's knight attack through Pablo's defense on matchday 3 in Red League
First of all, thanks for all the encouraging words in the feedback of VCT – Opinion form. Your support and encouragement are the fuel to the success of VCT and we look forward to your co operation in the future editions as well, as we intend to grow both in quality and quantity as we have been doing.
Top Comment –
“Its difficult not to like anything with the idea or the way in which the tournament was conducted. It was very well organized and the commentary /blog was the icing on the cake.”
Coming to the feed backs –
- We definitely need more volunteers if we want to continue and expand VCT. We will be collecting the consent of you all towards the end of this tournament.
“Unlike that white or black is decided by chess.com and no 2-matches for each pair of players."
- This has been a burning topic since VCT2 and has created lot of debates in the current tournament. However, we have come to a conclusion that as most of us are still in the learning phase of the game, we do not want to encourage any preference of white or black in the game yet. And we request players to prepare themselves to play in both black and white before their games. Hence there will be only one match between players in any stage of the tournaments (unless a draw in any knockout match). Selection of black or white will remain automatic as per chess.com selection.
- Having said that, to ensure that there is a balance, we are planning to introduce some process with which each player has to play some minimum matches in opposite colors in the upcoming tournaments. We will publish the details in the rules of VCT once it is finalized.
“Maybe, a few tips / tutorials or learning exchange could be done so we could learn from the pros”
- This is a very important feedback as in VCT, we are looking at not just competition, but learning as well. For discussions, we need a forum, as Whatsapp group is not very convenient. We had explored the chess.com club, but it may not suit our purpose. We are thinking of creating a VCT FB page, if members agree, where such kind of discussion forums can be setup. We will discuss this within the group and the intent will be to encourage more learning experience.
“15/10 matches can be made in the later part of the tournament. Initially please try to keep 30 min matches. If people play 15/10 then they can also make time for 30 min matches.”
- This has also come up in recent discussions to have matches with more time, to allow develop the thought process in a match. But because of multiple other factors like requirement of incremental time for moves and logistical constraints as well, it is concluded that all matches in VCT tournament will be of 15|10 time frame.
- However the Championship matches in between, or the practice matches can be played in 30 minutes or even more time frame.
___________________________________Who was your favorite fighter in the Group Stage? (Top Fighter is not
listed)
Who
do you think will be the Champion of VCT?
With a bit over half of the total votes, Irfan (11 votes) seems to be the clear favorite to be the Champion of VCT 3, according to the other players.
Only
other player to give some competition to him in the prediction is Sayak with 6 votes.
Who
to your opinion is the Dark Horse and can surprise everyone in the Knockout
rounds?
Nandita
has already created a sensation in VCT 3 as being the only Fighter to qualify
to the Knockout Stage, and that too as the Group Topper (Yellow League). Most players expect more
surprises from her in the upcoming rounds and she has been elected as the Dark
Horse with 7 votes.
Matcho
comes second with 4 votes.
Who to your opinion has been unlucky not to be in the
Knockout Stage?
With 62% vote, that means 13 out of 21 VCT 3 players think
that it is Sandy who ran into tough luck in the tournament. I think all of us
in VCT family will be happy to see our VCT-2 Champion come back much stronger
in the next tournament.
Shibu, Aneek, Neha and Pablo have got 2 votes each.
11 players were voted in each of the next two segments! Amazing engagement!
Loved watching the matches - The uniform votes in the last segment shows people loved watching each other’s games. Irfan with 4 votes narrowly edged past Akash, Nandita and Sayak, with 3 votes each.
