VCT 2 - Quarter Final Story

Image
By Bikash Sherpa With eight players remaining, the Quarter-finals of VCT - Thug Chess - 2 proceeded with the below exciting matches -  Match # QF1     :           M atcho (HopelessIndian) V Masid (masidhere)  Winner                 :            Matcho  Our one man army manager for VCT 2, Matcho began his match with Masid with Black pieces. As I have mentioned earlier, Masid has tendency to push his pawns too far from the king. The same thing happened in this match, Masid pushed his g Pawn from g4 to g5 (see below) which allowed HopelessIndian's knight to infiltrate towards white side from h5 to f4 forming an outpost ( Outposts are a favorable position on chess board from which an attack can be launched, particularly using a knight ). From there Matcho launched an incredible attack, after which Masid resigned. Chess.com's accuracy of 97% for Ma...

VCT 2 - Round 3 Story

By Bikash Sherpa Match # 17     :      Arkadip(ArkatheLogan) V Maddy(maddy1847)  Result               :      Maddy won Round 3 began with the Logan taking on Maddy. Logan as I have noticed throughout the tournament, started to push his pawns in front of his king which put him in deep trouble as the black king ran all the way from e8 (its original position) to a3!! Maddy finally won a game and would like to continue the form onto next tournament.  Match # 18     :      Jongol(shayon62) V Irfan(Irfan_raza6)  Result               :      Irfan won  This was the first game of round 3 and Irfan with 80% accuracy won his game with black pieces. Jongol missed a pawn fork (which Irfan highlighted later on in VCT 2 whatsapp group) after which Irfan converted nicely justifying his 2nd seeding. Other guys including myself sh...

VCT 2 - Round 2 Story

By Bikash Sherpa Match # 09    : Arkadip (ArkatheLogan) vs Matcho (hopelessindian) Result              :  Matcho Won With the 'hope' of making into the quarterfinals, Matcho steadily kept the pressure up with black pieces and capitalize on few inaccuracies by Arkadip. I would say it is a flawless game from Matcho. Well done!                 --------------------- Match #10   : Jongol (shayon62) vs Neha (BheegiBasanti) Result             :  Neha Won This game had many misses from Jongol. He badly needed a win but could not take it when Neha offered a knight and later a rook. On the other hand Neha kept on fighting and eventually won the game (kudos to her 73% accuracy). Now she has a good chance of reaching the knockout stage.                --------------------- Match #11     : D...
